Lesson plan and examples to support pupils to create portraits in the style of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Using the poem ‘Life Doesn’t Frighten Me’, pupils explore the artists’ style and encouraged to use a similar apporach in their own work. Really engaging, fun (think 30 kids vibing to Jazz music while painting!) with great results for all ages.

In this lesson, pupils will learn about Georgia O’Keeffe and explore her famous flower paintings. They then go on to paint their own version, using visual elements examined in the slides. Could be adapted for a range of ages, the results are really beautiful!

Engaging 4-lesson series on portraiture, designed for primary pupils. These interactive lessons explore the concept of portraits, delve into visual elements like line, colour, and texture, and introduce critical analysis skills.
